Use fractional decimal digits; -1 selects native max_digits10 or approximate MPFR round-trip digits.

Select exact fractions for half-integers or exact mpreal values.
For mpreal this also selects fraction output in CSV/TSV; approximate values are unchanged.

Use significant digits; -1 selects native max_digits10 or approximate MPFR round-trip digits.

Recover finite real values from their text, including the sign of zero.
Selects general notation with native max_digits10 or the approximate MPFR value's digit count and disables negative-zero normalization. Exact nonintegers require fractional() instead. A later fixed/scientific/general call replaces this numeric format with ordinary display formatting.
